Jennifer Kalvestran is an attorney in the firm’s Los Angeles office.  Her practice is focused on insurance coverage and insurance coverage litigation, but she has also handled various complex commercial litigation matters, including the defense of real estate, financial and medical services institutions.  Jennifer is involved in all aspects of litigation, including trial practice, mediations and depositions, and she brings a practical perspective to planning and executing these dispute resolution and litigation strategies.  She has also successfully represented her clients in numerous matters on appeal before the California Appellate Court and Ninth Circuit.  Knowing that her clients seek the most efficient and cost-effective dispute resolution possible, Jennifer is also committed to looking for ways to help avoid trial by negotiating informal settlements at mediations and settlement conferences when appropriate.

  • Mike Rovner Construction, Inc. v. Liberty Surplus Insurance Corp., 2014 WL 3752106 (July 31, 2014) (California Appellate Court affirms summary judgment obtained in client’s favor that no duty to defend or indemnify because no “suit” filed and “known injury or loss” exclusion applies).
  • Sirius Int’l Ins. Corp., et al. v. Sup. Ct. (Larry Shaw), 2013 WL 4662872 (Aug. 30, 2013) (obtained writ of mandate in the first instance, enforcing mandatory forum selection clause in a health benefits insurance contract issued to international travelers and non-U.S. citizens).
  • Giovanni Cosmetics, Inc. v. Arch Ins. Co., et al., No. 10-55418 (9th Cir. Nov. 28, 2011) (Ninth Circuit affirms summary judgment obtained in client’s favor, finding no coverage because use of generic term constitutes neither “use of another’s advertising idea” nor an “advertising injury”).
